Collection: Alison McKenzie
Alison McKenzie was born in Nova Scotia and moved to Ontario as a young child. Her visits to Cape Breton, fishing in her father's childhood fishing hole, hiking to take in panoramic views, and swatting the mosquitoes that surrounded her like good friends, were all part of her wonderful summers. With driving to Cape Breton, she spent hours looking out the window admiring Canada's beauty and was woken up whenever her parents saw something she would appreciate, all of which developed her emotional connection with the world around her.
Alison sees the world is full of wonder; the vastness of the sky, the power of water, and the beauty in plant life. Alison's paintings reflect nature’s reaching forms, textures and energizing movement as seen from a distance as well as in more intimate views. She lets her paintings flow from scenes and subjects that she connects with, experimenting with different perspectives, colour and movement. She continually explores new ways of capturing the beauty she sees in her subjects.
Alison is excited to share her work as she travels along her artistic journey. If you have a dream, never let it go.
