Collection: Juanita Le Barre Symington
Born in Hamilton, Ontario, Symington graduated from the Royal Hamilton Conservatory and further studied in New York at the Art Students League with John Carlson. She was an active member of the Federation of Canadian Artists as well as the Rockport Art Association and North Shore Arts Association, Gloucester. Symington was also a prize winner at the Suffolk Museum, Long Island, 1947-1949.
Throughout her life and career, Symington was a highly well known and respected member of the Hamilton community where she also helped found the Women’s Art Association of Hamilton. Today, her work is represented in many permanent and private collections in Canada and abroad, including the collection of Queen Elizabeth II.
