Collection: William Redver Stark
William Redver Stark was a Canadian born artist specializing in book illustrations and World War I sketches in France and Germany. He studied art at the Ontario College of Art as well as studied in the United States. Stark enlisted for the Great War in 1916 and was assigned to the Canadian First Construction Battalion. During his time over seas, Stark documented what he saw of the Great War, kept illustrative records of what he and his fellow men experienced. Following his returned to Canada and the end of the War, Stark became a freelance illustrator for the Toronto Star Weekly as well as a freelance illustrator for educational and children's books. He was a noted artist and member of the Ontario Society of Artists (OSA).
